About
Local business news, without the digging.
The Grand Brief is a free weekly email for people who own or run a business in and around Grand Rapids.
Why it exists
The things that affect a local business, like a state tax deadline, a new grant, a City Commission vote or a networking lunch, are spread across city, county, state and Chamber websites, plus the local news. Most owners don't have time to check all of them every week.
The Grand Brief does that checking for you and sends the useful parts in one short email every Tuesday at 6 AM ET.
What's in every issue
- A quick hello about something happening around town that week.
- One practical AI tip with copy-and-paste steps for a real small-business task.
- 3–5 Grand Rapids business items: openings and closings, taxes and deadlines, local laws, grants and funding, partnerships and networking events.
How we handle the news
- Every item links to its source, usually the official one (the City of Grand Rapids, Kent County, the State of Michigan, the SBA, the Grand Rapids Chamber) or the original news story.
- If we can't verify it, it doesn't go in. No rumors and no guesses about dates.
- Information only. Nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice. Always check the linked source.
Who writes it
Hi, I'm Troy. I help small businesses put AI and automation to work on the busywork that eats their week. The AI tip in each issue is the kind of thing I'd show a friend who owns a shop: practical, quick and honest about what AI can and can't do.
